Session Ident: #nyarlathotepsmasks
03[19:10] * Now talking in #nyarlathotepsmasks
01[19:10] <Brian_Finnegan> there
[19:10] <Jason_Triyorte> Wb
[19:10] <Jason_Triyorte> Wow, shitty scores for 10 d100
[19:11] <Jason_Triyorte> Amazingly shitty scores even
[19:11] <@The_Keeper> Perfect.
[19:11] <@The_Keeper> Right, well. I'm not going to wait any longer when we've got three out of four.
01[19:11] <Brian_Finnegan> just a warning, if I get disconnected at all while we do this, it's my PC
[19:11] <@The_Keeper> I'll keep that in mind.
[19:12] <@The_Keeper> Short guidelines/things to keep in mind:
[19:13] <@The_Keeper> I will be switching from third to second person more or less arbitrarily. Don't get surprised when I do.
[19:13] <@The_Keeper> Narration is mainly important when you're doing things that deserve it. If you're going off to do something that's going to take a while, like library research, just tell me what you're doing--third or first person, doesn't much matter.
[19:14] <@The_Keeper> Conciseness over description, unless you're in a situation that really merits description. You'll know when this happens.
[19:14] <@The_Keeper> I want this to move at a decent clip.
[19:15] <@The_Keeper> System's simple--for dice rolls, try to roll equal to or under your target number.
[19:15] <Jason_Triyorte> So if I wanna explore the ancient ruins of Whatchamacallit and someone's tomb, I'd have to go 'Jason began looking around the desolate tomb of What's-his-face the Great?'
[19:15] <Jason_Triyorte> Or something to that effect.
[19:15] <@The_Keeper> More or less.
[19:16] <@The_Keeper> Oh. Present tense preferred, just to make that clear now.
[19:16] <@The_Keeper> I want this to have a generally tabletoppy feel.
01[19:16] <Brian_Finnegan> "Jason looks around Whathisface's tomb"
[19:17] <@The_Keeper> If you have any in-game questions, regarding details or whatever, feel free to ask me in chat or PM.
[19:17] <@The_Keeper> Any questions?
[19:17] <Jason_Triyorte> Nope
[19:17] <Jason_Triyorte> If anyone needs info from the book, I'll upload it btw, so just tell me
[19:17] <Jason_Triyorte> Actually, question.
[19:17] <AdelleHoward> >_>
[19:17] <@The_Keeper> Hm?
[19:18] <Jason_Triyorte> Hm, nvm
[19:18] <@The_Keeper> Er, okay.
[19:18] <Jason_Triyorte> Common sense answered my own question as I typed it
[19:18] <Jason_Triyorte> >_>;
[19:18] <@The_Keeper> Right. Anyone else?
[19:18] <@The_Keeper> No?
[19:19] <Jason_Triyorte> Apparently not!
[19:19] <@The_Keeper> Seems so.
[19:19] <@The_Keeper> Right.
[19:19] <@The_Keeper> IC hats on, then, and let's go.
01[19:19] <Brian_Finnegan> i put on my fedora
[19:19] <@The_Keeper> The date is January 8th, 1925. You have been gathered together by Adelle Howard as an investigative team. The item under investigation: a radiogram originating from a ship at sea. The sender is one Jackson Elias, a longtime friend of Miss Howard, and it reads as follows:
[19:19] <@The_Keeper> http://i5.photobucket.com...ms/y198/Tenei/Papers2.jpg
[19:20] <@The_Keeper> The infamous Carlyle Expedition is at least somewhat familiar to you all: an archaeological expedition led by notorious millionaire playboy Roger Carlyle, which perished in Egypt a few years ago.
[19:20] <@The_Keeper> Omni, DA, Brian and Jason are familiar with some of the New York Pillar/Riposte's periodic reporting on the topic, per these articles:
[19:20] <@The_Keeper> http://i5.photobucket.com...ms/y198/Tenei/Papers4.jpg
[19:20] <@The_Keeper> http://i5.photobucket.com...ms/y198/Tenei/Papers6.jpg
[19:20] <Jason_Triyorte> Quick OOC question.
[19:20] <@The_Keeper> http://i5.photobucket.com...ms/y198/Tenei/Papers7.jpg
[19:21] <@The_Keeper> ((Yeah?))
[19:21] <Jason_Triyorte> (Know any option that makes IRC auto-open the links upon click)
[19:21] <Jason_Triyorte> (I have to copy paste the address to open them for some reason)
[19:21] <@The_Keeper> ((Unfortunately, no. Your best option is to right-click -> Open in New Browser.))
[19:21] <@The_Keeper> Zeroku, being a (former) part of the upper class, Adelle knows of Roger's sister Erica, who's currently the sole heir to the family fortune, and that she went out on a search for her brother shortly after word came back about the expedition's fate.
[19:22] <@The_Keeper> You have one week till your meeting with Elias. What will you do till then?
[19:22] <@The_Keeper> Will you try to gather information on your own about the ill-fated expedition, or see what Elias has to offer you?
[19:22] <Jason_Triyorte> Jason attempts to gather information by himself.
01[19:23] <Brian_Finnegan> Brian decides to head to a library to find some archives about the expedition.
[19:23] <Jason_Triyorte> Contacting a few of his contacts in New York. (do I roll for persuasion or something)
[19:23] <AdelleHoward> Adelle sees what Elias to offer. (I guess >_>)
[19:23] <@The_Keeper> ((You may want to tag along with someone, Zeroku. This session's liable to turn into a fact-finding mission.))
[19:23] <@The_Keeper> Give me a Luck roll, DA
[19:24] <Jason_Triyorte> roll 1#100
[19:24] <Uncaring_Gods> 3,0Jason_Triyorte rolled :3,0 1#100 --> 4,0{100}
[19:24] <Jason_Triyorte> (Insta-failed)
[19:24] <@The_Keeper> ... well, then.
[19:25] <@The_Keeper> Jason, unfortunately, has no contacts who know anything at all about the expedition beyond what's already common knowledge. Would you like to tag along with Brian, or try another lead?
[19:25] <AdelleHoward> Adelle doesn't have much to do, so she tags along with Brian (I guess <_<)
[19:25] <Jason_Triyorte> Jason tries the last person he'd like to talk to under any other circumstances, an old adversary and former cop who works based on New York
[19:27] <@The_Keeper> Hmm. That'll require a little bit of work, so let me get to Brian and Adelle for a moment, here.
[19:27] <Jason_Triyorte> I just realized something about my earlier roll
[19:27] <Jason_Triyorte> I didn't put a d before the 100
[19:27] <Jason_Triyorte> But whatever.
[19:28] <@The_Keeper> ((That would change things, actually. Give me a reroll.))
[19:28] <Jason_Triyorte> roll 1#d100
[19:28] <Uncaring_Gods> 3,0Jason_Triyorte rolled :3,0 1#d100 --> 3,0[ 1d100=49 ]4,0{49}
[19:28] <Jason_Triyorte> Success!
[19:29] <@The_Keeper> I'll sort out something there, then. Omni and Zeroku, give me Library Use rolls, please.
01[19:29] <Brian_Finnegan> ((You roll out of what your lib use stat is?)
[19:30] <Jason_Triyorte> (Base stat if you don't have any, aye)
[19:30] <@The_Keeper> ((Roll d100 and try to get equal to or below the stat.)
01[19:30] <Brian_Finnegan> (kk)
01[19:30] <Brian_Finnegan> roll 1#d100
[19:30] <Uncaring_Gods> 3,0Brian_Finnegan rolled :3,0 1#d100 --> 3,0[ 1d100=62 ]4,0{62}
[19:30] <AdelleHoward> roll d100
[19:30] <Uncaring_Gods> 3,0AdelleHoward rolled :3,0 d100 --> 3,0[ 1d100=39 ]4,0{39}
01[19:30] <Brian_Finnegan> shoot
[19:30] <AdelleHoward> (fail'd too ._.)
[19:32] <@The_Keeper> Information about the expedition is proving rather elusive, at least at the library--digging through old newspapers and magazines for hours on end makes everything start to blend together after a little while.
[19:33] <@The_Keeper> However, there's still more material to search through--I'll allow one retry for the day.
[19:33] <AdelleHoward> (Come ooooooooooooooon dice roll1111111)
01[19:33] <Brian_Finnegan> Brian decides to search again
01[19:33] <Brian_Finnegan> roll d100
[19:33] <Uncaring_Gods> 3,0Brian_Finnegan rolled :3,0 d100 --> 3,0[ 1d100=19 ]4,0{19}
[19:33] <AdelleHoward> Adelle too.
01[19:33] <Brian_Finnegan> Yes!
[19:33] <AdelleHoward> roll d100
[19:33] <Uncaring_Gods> 3,0AdelleHoward rolled :3,0 d100 --> 3,0[ 1d100=86 ]4,0{86}
[19:33] <AdelleHoward> :\
[19:34] <@The_Keeper> After further digging, Brian searches through the Pillar/Riposte's archives again and comes up with the remainder of the coverage of the expedition...
[19:35] <@The_Keeper> ((http://i5.photobucket.com...ms/y198/Tenei/Papers5.jpg , and replace 5 with 3-10 for the remainder. Don't bother with the rest, you won't find anything.))
01[19:36] <Brian_Finnegan> ((That gave me a great lead, thanks!))
[19:37] <Jason_Triyorte> ((Question, Kendra. Would we have all ICly met already and gone our separate ways or investigating separately first before meeting?))
[19:38] <@The_Keeper> In addition, there are a few scattered articles from earlier papers regarding the expedition primaries. Hypatia Masters and Carlyle himself are particularly prominent, being the high-society types they were, and there's a little bit buried in a 1917 article regarding scurrilous rumors about Carlyle and a Negress poet named Nichinka Bunay.
[19:38] <@The_Keeper> *Nichonka
[19:38] <@The_Keeper> ((I would assume it'd be the former, DA.))
[19:40] <@The_Keeper> Jason, meanwhile...
[19:40] <@The_Keeper> ((... I am having a great deal of trouble with for no discernable reason. Sorry, just a few minutes more.))
02[19:41] * Jason_Triyorte (~FusionRea@Rizon-B07E092D.prtc.net) Quit (Ping timeout: 240 seconds)
01[19:42] <Brian_Finnegan> o.o
[19:42] <@The_Keeper> ... well, in that case, let's turn our attention to the other two.
03[19:42] * Jason_Triyorte (~FusionRea@Rizon-E989C63C.prtc.net) has joined #nyarlathotepsmasks
[19:42] <@The_Keeper> ((Welcome back.))
[19:43] <Jason_Triyorte> ((Thanks)
[19:43] <Jason_Triyorte> ((I missed everything after your OOC reply))
[19:43] <Jason_Triyorte> ((Electricity died))
[19:43] <@The_Keeper> I was saying I was having an inordinate amount of trouble coming up with something. Could you give me some specifics about what you're looking for, or who you're looking with?
[19:44] <Jason_Triyorte> I'm looking for information on equipment or probably leads the police might've had with a search for the expedition.
[19:44] <@The_Keeper> Equipment?
[19:44] <Jason_Triyorte> Equipment as in things they might've carried, like guns in case they were expecting to find someone or something there
[19:45] <Jason_Triyorte> Since it'd have to have permits and whatnot so it'd have gone through the police at some point
[19:45] <Jason_Triyorte> Assuming the team was prepared and left from NY
[19:46] <@The_Keeper> Hm. The police are little help regarding the expedition itself--your contacts inform you, perhaps a little brusquely, that what happened overseas isn't their job to deal with. One of them tell you to go talk to Miss Carlyle about that sort of thing.
[19:46] <Jason_Triyorte> Jason follows the man's advice but before that, to avoid trouble, he asks where he might find her
[19:48] <@The_Keeper> She's typically at Carlyle House, her Westchester estate. He wishes you luck with -that- with a sarcastic snort.
[19:48] <Jason_Triyorte> Jason decides to head for the estate but puts on a diguise as a federal officer to help with information gathering ((I'll roll disguise now)
[19:48] <Jason_Triyorte> roll 1#100
[19:48] <Uncaring_Gods> 3,0Jason_Triyorte rolled :3,0 1#100 --> 4,0{100}
[19:48] <Jason_Triyorte> Fuck
[19:48] <@The_Keeper> ((Add the d.))
[19:48] <Jason_Triyorte> roll 1#d100
[19:48] <Uncaring_Gods> 3,0Jason_Triyorte rolled :3,0 1#d100 --> 3,0[ 1d100=48 ]4,0{48}
[19:48] <Jason_Triyorte> Success
[19:49] <@The_Keeper> ((Actually, I ought to roll that. You shouldn't know if it's a -good- disguise till it's tested, right?))
[19:49] <Jason_Triyorte> ((Good point))
[19:50] <@The_Keeper> And so you have a disguise. The uniform isn't terribly difficult to adapt, and you've got faked credentials.
[19:50] <@The_Keeper> Would you like to inform the others of your plans for the afternoon?
[19:51] <Jason_Triyorte> Jason chooses not to, as it could potentially ruin his cover
[19:51] <@The_Keeper> Fair enough.
[19:52] <@The_Keeper> Carlyle House is a fairly prominent location, and easy to find directions to. It's several miles out from the city proper, but it doesn't take long to cover with your sedan.
[19:53] <@The_Keeper> It's about a half-hour out, along the Hudson--and you catch a rather ominous glimpse of Sing-Sing Prison as you get close.
[19:54] <@The_Keeper> ((This could be a fairly lengthy scene, so would you like to cover something else in the meantime, perhaps in another channel, Omni, Zeroku?))
01[19:54] <Brian_Finnegan> ((fine with me))
[19:55] <AdelleHoward> (I'm cool with whatever. We can do it here, can't we?)
[19:55] <@The_Keeper> ((I'm not sure about running two scenes simultaneously in the same room, is all. It could get awkward.))
[19:56] <Jason_Triyorte> ((Mind if I observe the other one as well?))
[19:56] <AdelleHoward> (If you feel that way, feel free)
[19:56] <@The_Keeper> ((Go right ahead. #masksalt is the channel.))
[20:00] <@The_Keeper> The estate itself covers a vast amount of stunningly well-kept grounds, on which is the elegant three-story mansion that is Carlyle House. Naturally, however, there's a twelve-foot wrought iron gate in the way, that, while it's as elegant as the rest of the estate, still looks rather impassable.
[20:00] <@The_Keeper> Equally impassable is the guard at the gate, who waves for you to stop as you're pulling up.
[20:01] <Jason_Triyorte> Jason stops the car and as it comes to a halt, gets out. Taking out the badge as he does and walking slowly towards the gate
[20:04] <@The_Keeper> The guard is large, gruff, and quite visibly armed, with a revolver in a shoulder holster that's unlikely to be just for show. A guard dog snarls at the end of a chain nearby. "A'right, what's your business here?"
[20:04] <Jason_Triyorte> Jason looks at the dog warily and responds to the guard
[20:04] <Jason_Triyorte> "I'm here to see Ms. Carlyle, it is extremely important business relating to her husband's death"
[20:08] <@The_Keeper> This does not particularly endear Jason to the guard. His eyes get flinty. "Bit late for that, ain't ya?"
[20:09] <Jason_Triyorte> Jason smiles bitterly and responds with clear hostility
[20:09] <Jason_Triyorte> "I don't expect a low-end guard like you who's probably never fired a gun to know the difficulties behind a case of this magnitude"
[20:15] <AdelleHoward> (Isn't Ms. Carlyle his sister, not his wife)
[20:16] <@The_Keeper> ((Yeah. Missed that, sorry.))
[20:16] <Jason_Triyorte> ((Was she? Damn))
[20:16] <@The_Keeper> The guard narrows his eyes at Jason, and gets in his face--he's got several inches on Jason, and leans down as he pokes him hard in the chest. "Listen here, you punk, I don't care if you're the Pres himself: nobody-but-nobody gets in to see Miz Carlyle without an appointment."
01[20:16] <Brian_Finnegan> ((Carlyle is a bachelor playboy))
[20:16] <Jason_Triyorte> Jason mirtlessly laughs and looks at the man directly in the eyes as he speaks
[20:17] <Jason_Triyorte> "Lemme tell you, 'friend', I'm not leaving empty handed, if I can't talk to Ms. Carlyle, I'm bringing you with for obstruction of a federal investigation."
[20:17] <Jason_Triyorte> To further prove the point, Jason reaches for the handcuffs in the back of his pants
[20:18] <Jason_Triyorte> ((Do I roll for persuasion or fasttalk?))
[20:18] <Jason_Triyorte> ((Or rather, do you?))
[20:20] <@The_Keeper> ((Roll for Fast Talk at a -30. This isn't the first time this guy's had to deal with this sort of thing.))
[20:21] <Jason_Triyorte> roll 1#d100
[20:21] <Uncaring_Gods> 3,0Jason_Triyorte rolled :3,0 1#d100 --> 3,0[ 1d100=63 ]4,0{63}
[20:22] <AdelleHoward> (gg)
[20:22] <Jason_Triyorte> Failed
[20:23] <@The_Keeper> The guard gives Jason a good shove. "You ain't the first one to feed me that line. Get outta my sight before I call the real police on you."
[20:24] <Jason_Triyorte> Not being one to just leave quietly, Jason draws the handgun, trusting and banking on his experience with shooting to be able to draw and hold the guard at gunpoint before the man can defend himself
[20:25] <Jason_Triyorte> ((His revolver rather))
[20:26] <@The_Keeper> roll d100
[20:26] <Uncaring_Gods> 3,0The_Keeper rolled :3,0 d100 --> 3,0[ 1d100=70 ]4,0{70}
[20:26] <Jason_Triyorte> FFFF
[20:26] <Jason_Triyorte> ((I'm screwed, ain't I?))
[20:26] <@The_Keeper> ((That was on my part. I need to roll sometimes, too.))
[20:26] <Jason_Triyorte> ((High rolls are never good))
[20:28] <@The_Keeper> The guard goes for his revolver as soon as he sees Jason start to reach, but Jason's a bit quicker on the draw. Slowly he starts to raise his arms. "Now don't go an' do something you're gonna regret."
[20:28] <Jason_Triyorte> Jason smiles as his free hand reaches for the handcuffs
[20:28] <Jason_Triyorte> "Did you really think, for a moment, that I was lying?"
[20:36] <@The_Keeper> ((Spot Hidden roll, please, before I post my next line.))
[20:37] <Jason_Triyorte> roll 1#d100
[20:37] <Uncaring_Gods> 3,0Jason_Triyorte rolled :3,0 1#d100 --> 3,0[ 1d100=40 ]4,0{40}
[20:37] <Jason_Triyorte> ((Missed by 5... :\ Hello doggy))
[20:37] <@The_Keeper> "Not for a second, sir." But his foot nudges a hidden switch nearby, and a few seconds later, the faint sound of an alarm bell can be heard from across the yard.
01[20:38] <Brian_Finnegan> ((Oh snap))
[20:38] <Jason_Triyorte> Jason's mind raced but he managed to maintain a calm facade, he needed to keep his cover no matter what, a true federal agent wouldn't freak out
[20:38] <Jason_Triyorte> "Very well, then we'll wait for the back up."
[20:41] <Jason_Triyorte> ((I'm about to have the shortest live character ever))
[20:41] <Jason_Triyorte> ((Lived even))
[20:41] <@The_Keeper> ((Is he still aiming the gun at the guard?))
[20:41] <Jason_Triyorte> ((Lemme respond to that IC, I forgot to state he lowered it))
[20:41] <Jason_Triyorte> Jason did, however, low the gun slightly, enough to aim again if he had to, but no longer directly threatening the guard
[20:42] <Jason_Triyorte> ((...Lower))
[20:46] <@The_Keeper> There's a gradually increasing commotion across the yard; this particular guard seems content to wait instead of risk getting shot unnecessarily.
[20:47] <Jason_Triyorte> Jason kept his eyes on the guard and dog, but concentrated on listening where the commotion was coming from.
[20:47] <Jason_Triyorte> "While we wait, care to tell me your name?"
[20:47] <Jason_Triyorte> ((Listening roll coming now)))
[20:47] <Jason_Triyorte> roll 1d100
[20:47] <Uncaring_Gods> 3,0Jason_Triyorte rolled :3,0 1d100 --> 3,0[ 1d100=88 ]4,0{88}
[20:48] <Jason_Triyorte> ((God my rolls have been sucking balls))
[20:48] <@The_Keeper> "Tom."
[20:49] <Jason_Triyorte> "Tom eh? Not a bad name, sorry if we got off on the wrong foot, but man, they're taking a while."
[20:51] <Jason_Triyorte> ((Next time I wanna sneak off to pretend to be a cop, dissuade me, guys))
[20:52] <@The_Keeper> The estate's rather large, but it's not much longer before several more armed guards appear on the other side of the gate, and one or two more opposite Tom, pistols leveled.
[20:52] <@The_Keeper> ((Hang on, need to make a few rolls.))
[20:54] <@The_Keeper> One on the other side gestures with his gun, looking suspiciously at Jason. "Let's see some credentials."
[20:56] <Jason_Triyorte> Jason slowly let go of the handcuffs and drew his credentials, knowing he was vastly outgunned and outnumbered. He however, kept his calm, or at least on the surface.
[20:56] <Jason_Triyorte> "Good day to you too."
[21:01] <@The_Keeper> He grabs it and scans it with a keen eye. "Fakes," he mutters dismissively, shoving them into his jacket. "Book 'im."
[21:02] <Jason_Triyorte> Jason wasn't about to go quietly, even with all the guns pointed at him at the moment.
[21:02] <Jason_Triyorte> "The hell you talkin' about fakes?"
[21:09] <@The_Keeper> "I've seen a few of these in my lifetime." He shows them to Jason, pointing out the little flaws that gave them away. "Impersonating a federal agent's a pretty serious crime, you know."
[21:10] <Jason_Triyorte> "Yeah, well, a Mr. Jackson Elias hired me to find information on the Carlyle expedition. Ms. Carlyle should know who he is, I think. So unless she wants her brother's murder to stay unresolved, I'd imagine she'd cooperate."
[21:10] <Jason_Triyorte> Jason knew it was lost, so he tried a shot in the dark, either way he'd find a hint to this. Why WOULD Ms. Carlyle be unwilling to help after all?
[21:11] <Jason_Triyorte> ((Fix the murder to death. Unless we know the cause?))
[21:11] <Jason_Triyorte> ((It was an automatic reflex.))
[21:11] <@The_Keeper> ((Not currently, no.))
01[21:12] <Brian_Finnegan> ((I know it :D))
01[21:12] <Brian_Finnegan> ((or at least what was reported!)
[21:12] <@The_Keeper> "Miss Carlyle personally investigated it several years ago. She has no interest in revisiting the issue." He sounds quite adamant about this. "And anyway, that's no excuse."
[21:13] <Jason_Triyorte> "So she's just gonna close the book and walk away, after an independent and private investigation with absolutely no proof of even happening apparently? Seems odd, doesn't it?"
[21:14] <Jason_Triyorte> Jason was attempting to figure out a way out of this, if it came to it, he'd figure a way out of jail once he got thrown in there. There was something weird here in his opinion.
[21:17] <@The_Keeper> "The expedition was killed by African tribesmen, every last one of them. They got tried in a proper court for it, like you're about to be." The guard nodded to one of the others on Jason's side of the fence, who moved to grab Jason's arms and restrain him. "Unless you've got some stunning revelation to add, the case is closed."
[21:17] <Jason_Triyorte> Jason thought for a moment, he had nothing to lose at the moment anyway.
[21:18] <Jason_Triyorte> "What if they weren't? My client's convinced something happened there that wasn't normal. After all, what would an African tribe be doing so far away from their lands and in the middle of Egypt? And if that is their land, that's even weirder"
[21:18] <Jason_Triyorte> He was, of course, mostly bluffing.
[21:19] <Uncaring_Gods> ((Is he going to let himself be restrained?))
[21:19] <Jason_Triyorte> ((Aye, no reason not to, except getting shot and he wouldn't want that))
[21:20] <Jason_Triyorte> ((I'd have stated if I wanted to resist))
[21:22] <@The_Keeper> "The expedition was on holiday in Nairobi. Clearly your Mr. Elias didn't do his -research-."
[21:23] <Jason_Triyorte> "Expedition on holiday? That sounds like a joke, what kind of self-respecting expedition suddenly abandons their site and goes on -holiday-."
[21:26] <@The_Keeper> "It was in the papers, unless you believe your conpiracy theory more than you believe Reuters."
[21:27] <Jason_Triyorte> "How unfortunate to not be a New York local, eh? And the papers also didn't state cause of death as far as I'm aware, so how does that work exactly? Your stories seem to contradict"
[21:27] <Jason_Triyorte> Meanwhile, Jason let himself be handled by the guards, waiting for a chance to escape
[21:27] <Jason_Triyorte> ((You said there had been no cause of death announced a while ago?))
[21:27] <@The_Keeper> ((I did?))
[21:27] <Jason_Triyorte> ((Aye))
[21:28] <@The_Keeper> ((Was it in one of the articles?))
01[21:28] <Brian_Finnegan> ((It -was- in the papers I found))
01[21:28] <Brian_Finnegan> ((Mentioned something about being killed by a tribe of some sort))
[21:28] <Jason_Triyorte> ((Huh, I don't remember seeing that, must've not seen the link.))
[21:28] <@The_Keeper> ((It was just something Brian and Adelle had seen.))
[21:31] <Jason_Triyorte> ((Actually, I just checked 5 to 7, only mention is them -leaving- Nairobi))
[21:31] <Jason_Triyorte> ((In seven that is))
[21:31] <@The_Keeper> ((They left Mombasa for Nairobi. Anyway, it's possible for them to misremember the little details. c.c;))
[21:32] <@The_Keeper> The guard scoffs. "No cause of-- they were torn apart! It was all over the news! Some 'investigator' you are." The guard who cuffed Jason goes on to wrench the revolver out of his hands, working carefully to avoid an accidental discharge.
[21:33] <Jason_Triyorte> "Oh, really? We'll see about that, I'll check if your stories are true once I'm at the police station, -they- should know something."
[21:33] <Jason_Triyorte> Jason let go of the revolver without fighting back, for obvious reasons, he had to be careful.
[21:35] <@The_Keeper> ((I can't really keep up a half-hour of this--can we fast-forward a bit to when the police arrive?))
[21:35] <Jason_Triyorte> ((Sure))
[21:35] <@The_Keeper> ((Make me a Luck roll.))
[21:35] <Jason_Triyorte> ((Question though, have -we- been in contact with Elias, let alone anybody else who might recognize him?))

[21:36] <Jason_Triyorte> Passed
[21:36] <Jason_Triyorte> Wait
[21:36] <@The_Keeper> ((That's a failure, actually. c.c;))
[21:36] <Jason_Triyorte> Stat mix up, aye
[21:37] <Jason_Triyorte> ((Man, everything I've done is trainwreck))
[21:37] <@The_Keeper> Some time passes before the police wagon shows up. Still restrained, Jason is bundled into the back of it while Carlyle's guards give the newcomers a rundown on the situation.
01[21:38] <Brian_Finnegan> ((You're the unlucky one now, sure. Just wait until later and watch everyone get fucked over but you))
[21:39] <Jason_Triyorte> Jason entered the wagon without resisting, though he scanned it to see how many officers were holding him back there and how well armed. He had a plan of sorts.
[21:39] <@The_Keeper> ((... if you wind up getting the party chased out of New York before they actually meet with Elias, I'm going to have to fly out there and smack you. c.c))
[21:40] <Jason_Triyorte> ((Nah, that's why I need to escape -before- we get back, more chances of not getting recognized))
[21:40] <Jason_Triyorte> ((Since they wouldn't know who I am right now, I wouldn't think?))
[21:41] <@The_Keeper> ((Not on sight, no, but they can provide descriptions.))
[21:41] <@The_Keeper> There are a couple of policemen sitting in the back with Jason as the wagon rolls off.
[21:42] <Jason_Triyorte> ((Disguises the redux. >_> <_<))
[21:42] <@The_Keeper> Spot Hidden for the rest, please.

[21:42] <Jason_Triyorte> PASSED
[21:42] <Jason_Triyorte> About time
[21:42] <@The_Keeper> ((Wow, nice. Shame it's not for anything -important-.))
[21:42] <Jason_Triyorte> ((Now you ruined it. D:))
[21:44] <@The_Keeper> Both are carrying revolvers in the obvious places, with one additionally carrying a concealed one. Both have rather worn-looking bulletproof vests.
[21:44] <@The_Keeper> Any additional details you need, just ask for.
[21:44] <Jason_Triyorte> Are they carrying larger weapons?
[21:44] <Jason_Triyorte> Like a rifle or shotgun?
[21:45] <Jason_Triyorte> And is whatever's keeping me from the front exposed in any way?
[21:45] <Jason_Triyorte> The little window thing that is
[21:46] <@The_Keeper> It's not going to be possible to reach through it, and probably not to shoot through it effectively, either.
[21:46] <@The_Keeper> There is a shotgun in the back, closer to the officer sitting across from you, the one without the concealed weapon (let's call him Officer A for now).
[21:47] <Jason_Triyorte> Jason observes the men carefully, making sure to keep his motives hidden and avoid looking at the weapons directly, meanwhile, he attempts to release his handcuffs behind his back with a small pin he had in his pocket.
[21:47] <Jason_Triyorte> ((Locksmithing roll?))
[21:48] <@The_Keeper> The officers both look rather bored, and Officer A looks a bit sleepy besides.
[21:48] <@The_Keeper> ((Go ahead.))
[21:48] <Jason_Triyorte> roll 1d100
[21:48] <Uncaring_Gods> 3,0Jason_Triyorte rolled :3,0 1d100 --> 3,0[ 1d100=3 ]4,0{3}
[21:48] <Jason_Triyorte> Fuck yes
[21:48] <Jason_Triyorte> About time it got going
[21:49] <Jason_Triyorte> Jason takes the handcuffs off (?) silently, as to avoid clanking, carefully positioning himself for his real move.
[21:51] <@The_Keeper> Neither really notices anything.
[21:52] <Jason_Triyorte> It happens in an instant, Jason lunges at the shotgun, intent on turning it and firing a shot at the two men before they can respond. He wants to aim it in a way that the spread will hit both at this range.
[21:53] <@The_Keeper> ((They're on opposite sides of the car. You're not going to get both.))
[21:53] <Jason_Triyorte> ((Oh, hmm.)
[21:53] <Jason_Triyorte> ((In that case, redo))
[21:54] <Jason_Triyorte> Jason chooses to bide his time a little longer, hoping this will somehow resolve itself without the need for him to take action. Though he keeps his attention on the shotgun for a moment, planning for the worse.
[21:55] <@The_Keeper> Time passes. Eventually, the increased noise outside the wagon indicates that it's passing into the city proper.
[21:56] <Jason_Triyorte> Jason's chance to escape by shooting his way out has passed, so he eases back and wait for another less violent alternative.
[21:57] <@The_Keeper> ((Oh, you were going to try it before getting to the city? Disregard that, then.))
[21:57] <Jason_Triyorte> ((Nah, s'fine. Better this way.))
[21:57] <Jason_Triyorte> ((I wasn't gonna start a shoot-out mid-city though, yeah.))
[21:58] <@The_Keeper> Time continues to pass. Much less of it does this time, however, before the wagon stops and Officer B goes to haul Jason to his feet. "Here we are."
[22:04] <@The_Keeper> ((?))
[22:05] <Jason_Triyorte> Sorry, was away
[22:05] <Jason_Triyorte> (B is the one who's near the door, right?))

[22:06] <Jason_Triyorte> ((Door is still closed, I'd imagine?))
[22:06] <YukonJack> ((Hey, sorry I'm late))
[22:06] <@The_Keeper> ((Yeah, hasn't been opened yet.))
[22:07] <Jason_Triyorte> Jason chose to wait a moment, letting the guard bring him to his feet, all he needed was a little longer.
03[22:07] * YukonJack is now known as Nikola_Tesla
[22:07] <@The_Keeper> ((No big deal, RL > RP. Omni/Zeroku, would one of you mind filling him in on what's been going on?))
01[22:07] <Brian_Finnegan> ((I'll do it in the other window))
[22:08] <@The_Keeper> Officer A opens the door while Officer B escorts Jason out, keeping a firm grip on his arm.
[22:10] <Jason_Triyorte> Jason did his best to keep the fact that he'd released his handcuffs, however as the opening came, his free hand went for the handgun
[22:11] <@The_Keeper> ((Which handgun?))
[22:11] <Jason_Triyorte> ((Concealed is hidden where?))
[22:11] <Jason_Triyorte> ((I didn't know so I avoided specifying, since I'm not gonna go for an ankle revolver))
[22:12] <@The_Keeper> ((Ankle, yeah. Obvious one's on a shoulder holster.))
[22:13] <Jason_Triyorte> ((Hmm, ankle handgun then, yeah. I can pull a move from there, lemme redo the move and specify))
[22:14] <Jason_Triyorte> Jason did his best to keep the fact that he'd released his handcuffs from the guards, however as the opening came, he dived for the concealed ankle handgun with his free hand, if he succeeded, he could hold the guard hostage from a position which avoided being aimed at by the other guard without risking a hit on the guard held at gunpoint, especially with a shotgun
[22:15] <@The_Keeper> Officer B, startled, is caught more or less flat-footed, but A is a little quicker on the draw.

[22:16] <@The_Keeper> ((Hold on, hold on.))
[22:17] <@The_Keeper> As Jason's going for the awkwardly-positioned ankle holster, A bounds forward, getting into a decent position with a little luck, and aims his own sidearm at Jason. "Freeze!"
[22:19] <Jason_Triyorte> Before the guard can squeeze off a shot, Jason aims and fires, a single shot aimed at the man's heart area, hoping to use the moment it took the man to aim to get a shot in. He needs to be quick and change target while guard B is startled too.
[22:19] <Jason_Triyorte> ((Do I handgun check?))
